This February, we would like to share the testimony of Renee Álvarez from the United States, who shares her mother’s journey of recovery after suffering a stroke in January 2024.
The stroke primarily affected the left side of her body, leading to significant mobility challenges. Additionally, initial infections weakened her strength, making recovery even more difficult. However, through an integrated treatment plan that included therapy and medication, she has made remarkable progress from improved control of her trunk and head to recent advancements in her limb mobility.
We hope her experience serves as a source of inspiration and encouragement for others facing similar challenges in their recovery journey.
Good morning, Massimo,
At first, infections took a significant toll on my mom, especially on her strength. It wasn’t until about three months ago that she began to regain better control of her trunk and head, which was a major step forward.
Two months ago, she started experiencing more movement in her left leg, and about a month ago, she showed some mobility in her left arm. Yesterday, she surprised us by managing to lift herself slightly from her chair on her own. She didn’t rise completely, but she lifted about 5 cm and exerted force with her legs.
Thanks to God, therapy, and medication, we continue to see steady progress.
Best regards, and thank you very much,
— Renee Álvarez
