This study explores the diverse impacts of traumatic brain injuries with a closer look at the different characteristics and outcomes between sports-related and non-sports-related cases.

In short, sports-related TBIs had better recovery in symptoms and mental health after 6 months, but functional outcomes were similar. 31% of mild sports-related TBIs with negative imaging still had disability. These findings illustrate the need for an effective follow-up of sports-related TBI patients regardless of the injury’s severity.
